Seriously?

As I mentioned, U-M football is a deep passion for me. Imagine my trepidation when I read on blogs around the internets that Nick Sheridan is the favorite to be the successor to Chad Henne. Seriously? Nick Sheridan? The same Sheridan who was a walk on? Holy balls. We have had a tremendous lineage of QB's at U-M since the early 90's. And now, we have Nick Sheridan. I just threw up a bit in my mouth.

Patience is overrated.

6 months later, I have decided to add a post to this long forgotten blog. I really don't have much to add. I am seriously considering making this a San Antonio Rampage blog. Or maybe a San Antonio minor league sports blog. No one reads it anyway so I might as well write about something I give a shit about.

I think that today I will clue all 2 readers in to where all of my sports allegiances lie.

The Detroit Red Wings are by far the most successful and well run franchise in professional sports in my lifetime. The New England Patriots are a close second but they are assholes (except Tom Brady) and this is my blog, so drop it whoremouths.

Conversely, for every Red Wings franchise there is the Detroit F'ing Lions. Easily the worst run franchise in professional sports in my lifetime. The Fords gave us the Edsel and now they bring us Matt Millen and his crew of perpetual fuck ups. It's going to be a lot of fun watching the Texans for free this year instead of spending a small fortune on Sunday Ticket only to change the channel to the Texans game by the 4 minute mark of the 2nd quarter.

I am a schizo basketball fan. I hate college basketball so that is out. The NBA is love hate for me. I either love it of hate it. From 1986-1995 I loved it. Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson ruined it. Then, when the league became competitive again, around 2003, I loved it again. Now, I am growing tired of it. For those paying attention, yes, it does have a lot to do with the success of the Pistons. Call me a bandwagon fan. I fully admit it. The league is just too boring if your team sucks balls. Unlike football or baseball.

The #1 team of my youth and the team that can still make me feel like I am 10 years old watching a World Series game is the Tigers. I ran around for 10 minutes when Magglio hit the walk off in 2006. They were my first favorite team and will forever be my #1 pro sports team.

Notice I said "pro". U-M football is my #1 passion in life other than my kids, my future wife, and my family. I will be 34 in October and I guarantee that something in this house will be broken as a result of a Michigan football loss. Maturity is overrated too. This year is going to be rough. But I firmly believe it will pay off in 2010. Luckily I will be in Jamaica on Nov. 22nd this year. I'm not sure I could handle that bloodbath. If, by some miracle of God they should win, I will never forgive myself. Ed note: I'm not fooling anyone. My ass will be planted in the hotel bar watching until Terrell Pryor comes in for mopup duty in the 3rd quarter.

Quickly climbing up the depth charts are the Missions (Padres AA team) and the Rampage (Coyotes AHL team). I have season tickets to the Rampage and attend roughly half the Missions home game every year. I love me some Minor League sports. And when I sit 3 rows behind Grant Fuhr, who happens to be the greatest left handed black goalie ever, it gives me goosebumps.

Stay tuned for ramblings and rantings about all my teams. It's going to be an interesting year.
