As you can tell from the title, today is a day of good news. First, the neurologist has assured me that, in his professional opinion, there is nothing wrong with me. Just your typical high blood pressure/exertion headaches. Brought on by lifting weights. If I can deal with the pain, I can continue to get in shape. There is no risk of anything going wrong. He said it is possible that I have a Dural Tear . If this is the case, it should heal on it's own and present no more problems. Being a military doctor, he has chosen a more conservative approach than a civilian might. I will be having an MRI sometime this month just to be 100% sure, but he said my history and symptoms show that, in all likelihood, there will be no lasting effects.
Next, in case you just got back from Burma, the Michigan State Spartans are playing a very important game tonight for the entire state of Michigan. It's time to shed all maize and blue and don the green and white for just one night. Between the "Big 3", Kwame Kilpatrick, and 6 inches of snow on April 6th, I think the mitten is due some good Karma for a change. So, with that in mind, GO GREEN GO WHITE. Make all of us, regardless of fan affiliation, proud.
Finally, it's opening mother f'n day y'all! Tiger baseball is back. I really couldn't care less where they finished last year, the year before, or this year. It's Tiger baseball!! Grandy, Polly, Miggy, and Maggs. JV... uh...JV...and...yeah! MIGGY! I will be fliping channels like a crazy surfing penguin tonight. Tigers, Spartans, and oh yeah...the Wings are on TV too. Holy crap I am in Nirvana.
I'll be back in a couple days. Until then, cheer loud, cheer proud, and be good.

Thursday update
Just a quick update for all my friends and family. And on that subject, I truly consider myself blessed to have you people in my life. Thank you for all your thoughts and well wishes. Sometimes living here in San Antonio, I feel so separated from everyone. (Except my new family of course) ;) But the last couple of days has really reconnected me with family and even some friends I hadn't talked to in years. Getting well wishes from someone like that is really pretty damn cool.
So...update...right. The post LP (Lumbar Puncture) headaches have subsided for the most part. I will be back to work tomorrow and I can't tell you how excited that makes me. That sounds like sarcasm, but daytime TV sucks....bad. I have developed a slight case of cabin fever and I feel like that commercial where the guy reaches the end of the internet. "Please turn back". I can only play so much online poker with this raging case of adult ADD. SO, work actually seems like a refreshing change. Monday is my appointment with the neurologist where hopefully they will find out what is going on in my head. I will let everyone know what they find as soon as I get home. So, everyone have a terrific weekend. Don't think of me anymore. I'm good. Back to normal even. Watch the Spartans go the distance and get ready for another baseball season. I will enjoy my Missions/Padres game tonight and back to back hockey nights this weekend. Monday, we can get back to real life.
I love you all. Some of you it's real love. Others, it's that drunk "I love you man" love. But it's love just the same. Stay safe and keep sending those thoughts my way.

Time to update
Fumbling around my laptop on my sick day (more to come later), I found this link in my bookmarks. I had completely forgotten about this damn page. Well, here I am. I'm back, like it or not. The following paragraphs will get everyone up to speed on my feelings about my teams, my life, and my sickness.
First, UM football. They were young. They were a Lloyd Carr team running a Rich Rod offense. Mostly they had no QB worth a dammit. The defense was a monumental letdown and at times, I wondered what the hell the coaches were doing. But, it was the first year of a grand plan. At least that's what I will keep telling myself. Get with me in December and I''l let you know my true feelings.
Basketball. Blah. Pistons suck. They traded for one of my all time favorite non Piston players and it was an unmitigated disaster. Oh well. Sun still shines. College basketball still sucks but there were some incredible games in the tournament this year.
Ho-hum, the Red Wings are battling for the best overall record....again. Seriously, is there a better run franchise in pro sports? Datsyuk is the man. Zetterberg has Angela's attention. And Lidstrom is quietly putting together another great season. Goaltending scares the shit out of me but I refuse to complain about this team. Ever.
Screw the Lions. Screw them right in their asses. I'm done until they prove to me they aren't a building full of incompetent doucheballs.
The Rampage season is winding down and what a roller f'n coaster it was. The team started out 2-20-1 in October and November. Mostly home games. I cannot accurately express how terrible it was to go to games in November. We got 2 great players back from injury and traded for a great team leader. Our goalie pulled his head out of his skinny little butt and the Rampage have been one of the better teams in the league since the first of December. Unfortunately, the hole was just too deep to climb out of. Great effort though. They didn't quit. And I love this team for that. Well, most of them anyway.
As the Rampage wind down, the Missions start up. I'm really looking forward to the season. The Padres have a decent developmental system. We had some good players last year that should be seeing Major League action within a couple years. And from what I have read, we should have some very good players up from Lake Elsinore for this coming season. More to come once I actually see some games.
Medical update time: If you don't already know, I had a bit of a scare last week. While working with my personal trainer, I started getting excruciating headaches every time I worked out. I couldn't take it any more so I went to the ER. They did a CT scan and found nothing alarming other than a cyst in my frontal lobe that was probably there for years and years and isn't a concern and some minor bleeding. They also did a Lumbar Puncture or Spinal Tap (Volume to 11 bitches!). According to the doc, it's not anything worth admitting me but it's not exactly normal either. I have an appointment scheduled with a neurologist next monday. I will keep everyone updated.
Hey lumbar puncture...eat it. Eat it nice and hard. The actual procedure wasn't fun but it was better than I expected. The following 3 days and counting however, suck. Hard. I can't get out of bed without feeling like I am being beaten with a bag of razor blades in the back of my head and neck. I am on Tylenol and Vicodin and it doesn't matter. It hurts. I have never been close to tears due to pain in my adult life. I'm pretty sure I have teared up 2 or 3 times. Look at it this way:
Your spinal column and skull are like one of those Aqua Globes you see on WE or DIY at 3am with a tennis ball in the globe part. When it's full of water, everything is copacetic. Drain out enough water, however, and Mr Tennis Ball aka MY BRAIN is now no longer floating. It is sitting nice and hard on the neck of the column. I just need to rest and hydrate. Wish me luck please.
Finally, this blog. Please leave comments if you are reading or plan on reading in the future. I just spent a good 30 minutes typing this out and I really am not big on wasting my time...or yours...if no one is going to read and/or enjoy this. If I get some readers, I will update every other day or so.
